PARK RIVER, N.D. (KFGO AM) - Two people, one of them a former firefighter, are facing charges in connection with an apartment complex fire in Park River.
The fire was contained to a bedroom, however there was smoke damage throughout the entire building. There were people in other apartments in the complex and the blaze was considered suspicious.
Walsh County Sheriff Ron Jurgens says the two suspects were apprehended a day after the fire and confessed they had intentionally set it. Aaron Fernelius, 21, and Jennifer Lanter, 22, are facing multiple counts of arson related charges.
Fernelius was a probationary member of the Grafton volunteer fire department and had resigned several days prior to the incident.
