MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - Moisture issues have caused 26 ground lights to short out on the Mandan side of the Memorial Bridge over the Missouri River between that city and Bismarck.
The lights are where flags are displayed. Mandan City Administrator Jim Neubauer says that new lights are being ordered, but it could be up to a month before they arrive and are installed.
City of Bismarck electronics supervisor Paul Lies says his staff dealt with similar problems with the lights on the Bismarck side of the bridge. He says that after replacing the lights several times, staff designed a different, more reliable system.
The new bridge opened in the fall of 2008.
