GRAND FORKS (KFGO-AM) -- A Grand Forks man was cited for swimming in the Red River, which is illegal. Police responded to a call of a report of a man swimming in the river who appeared to be in distress.
When police arrived, they found 41-year-old Bryant Peterson hanging on a branch in the river and he would not listen to officers when they told him to get out. He said he was looking for his dog but when police offered to help, he let go of the branch and began swimming again.
Peterson finally got out with the help of a rescue disc and was handcuffed. Police say he was drunk. He was issued a citation for swimming in the river. Police weren't able to locate a dog.
