DETROIT LAKES, MINN. (KFGO-AM) -- People in Detroit Lakes have been urged to use more water, of at least let their faucets trickle. The city has been dealing with dozens of frozen water service-lines.

Utilities Manager Vernell Roberts says the weather and deep frost levels are to blame. Roberts says bills will be based on previous use, from March and April of last year.

Detroit lakes is the second city in Becker County to ask that residents leave their water running at a slow rate to help prevent pipe freeze-up. Frazee made the same request last week.
