MOORHEAD  (KFGO-AM)  Faculty at Minnesota State University Minnesota had their first look at a proposal by the adminstration aimed at helping eliminate the school's deficit, projected to hit $8 million by 2016 if nothing is done. The plan involves the layoffs of six tenured and 16 temporary faculty, elimination of 5 majors that have low enrollments and the merger of 10 academic departments.  Faculty have two weeks to respond the plan. MSUM adminstration will review the feedback and then decide whether to proceed. The deficit is the result of an 11% drop in enrollment in the past four years.
