GRAFTON, ND (KFGO-AM) - A Grafton woman accused of locking four young children in a dog cage appeared in court Tuesday.
Twenty-three-year-old Jordan Nelson pleaded "not guilty" to four counts of felony abuse and neglect of a child and felonious restraint. Walsh County prosecutors say Nelson locked the kids in a cage in the basement of a home she shares with the children's biological mother.
The children told investigators they were placed in the cage as punishment and the lights were turned off. One child told police that Nelson forced her brother to eat dog food until he became sick.
Nelson's attorney, David Dusek, says he has no comment. A jury trial has been scheduled for September 29th.
