GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Junior goaltender Zane McIntyre has been named most valuable player of the University of North Dakota hockey team that fell just short of a national title.
The Boston Bruins draftee last season won the Mike Richter Award as the best goalie in college hockey and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, given to the top player in the country.
McIntyre led UND to the NCAA Frozen Four in Boston, where the team lost in the semifinals. He had 29 victories during the season, tops in the nation and second-most in UND single-season history.
