GRAND FORKS (KFGO-AM) -- Another death in the Grand Forks area has been linked to fentanyl. Alex Davis, 22, of West St. Paul was found unresponsive in a home near the UND campus last month. An autopsy determined he died from an overdose of fentanyl.
Police have been warning about the dangers of fentanyl following several deaths and overdoses in recent months. It's not known where Davis got the fentanyl.
A half-dozen people are already facing federal charges in the earlier overdose cases. Acting U.S. Attorney Chris Myers called the drug problem an "epidemic". The drugs killed 18-year old Bailey Henke of Grand Forks in January and 19-year old Evan Poitra of Grand Forks last July.
Federal prosecutors say those drugs were obtained from Brandon Hubbard, of Portland, Oregon, who made his first North Dakota court appearance last week in Fargo.
