FERGUS FALLS, MN (KFGO-AM) -- A rural Perham man who was charged with attempted murder has been released from the Otter Tail County Jail after pleading guilty to a reduced charge.
Jeffrey Schultes, 53, pleaded guilty to a gun-related charge. The prosecutor told a judge that she agreed to a plea deal because the victim cannot be located and may have left the state.
The judge will wait to consider the agreement until a criminal background investigation is completed. Schultes was let out of jail until sentencing late next month. He would likely only face additional time in jail.
He was accused of shooting out a tire and driver's side window of a car that the victim was sitting in.
