BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota's Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with 13 events.
The kickoff is Friday afternoon at the Heritage Center Pembina River Plaza in Bismarck. Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley will speak, along with Parks and Rec Director Mark Zimmerman and others.
The event will include a state Arbor Day tree planting ceremony and an ice cream social. The department's 50th Anniversary Exhibit Trailer also will be open for tours.
