MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a 36-year-old man with assault for driving at police at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport last weekend.
Mohamud Mohammed Maye of Maple Plain is charged in Hennepin County with three counts of first-degree assault. He is expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
According to the criminal complaint, Maye drove his car at three police officers in an airport parking ramp on Saturday night, injuring two of them and barely missing the third. Airport police fired at the car when Maye refused orders to stop.
Maye crashed the car and was arrested. He was treated at a hospital and is now in jail. The two officers suffered minor injuries.
County Attorney Mike Freeman says investigators don't know why Maye drove at the officers.
