ENDERLIN, N.D. (AP)  U.S. Sen. John Hoeven says Canadian Pacific Railway has committed to keeping a key thoroughfare un-blocked in the city of Enderlin.

The dispute between the railroad and the city over blocked crossings ended up in federal court last year. The city approved a new ordinance calling for railroad employees in violation to spend at least two days in jail and pay a fine.

The railroad claimed the ordinance was unconstitutional and sued, and the city later repealed the measure.

Hoeven says CP Rail has now committed to modifying its operations in Enderlin to prevent blocked crossings.
