WEST FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- An upset parent charged into the opposing team's locker room during an Mite hockey tournament in West Fargo over the weekend and that led to punches being thrown.
Mike Prochnow of the West Fargo Hockey Association says a mother was upset with a call on the ice and started screaming at the other team's coaches. She was asked to leave four times, but wouldn't. Prochnow says one coach pushed the woman on the shoulder and her husband got mad and threw a punch. That's when the other coaches started punching back. Prochnow says the husband got the worst of it, suffering a black eye and bloody lip.
Prochnow says it all happened in front of the players who are seven and eight years old.
Both teams were from Winnipeg.
Police were called, but no charges were filed.
The one team whose parent's started the fight were ejected from the tournament because the West Fargo Hockey Association has a zero tolerance policy against violence.
