Fire scorches about 1,000 acres in Clay and Otter Tail Counties

BARNESVILLE (KFGO-AM) -- A large grass fire scorched about 1,000 acres between Barnesville and Pelican Rapids Monday afternoon.

Fire crews from Barnesville, Hawley, Pelican Rapids and the DNR battled the blaze. They were able to save a home that was threatened by the fire. Crews were on the scene until late at night mopping up hot spots.

Winds gusting to 45 mph hour helped spread the fire.
