BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota officials are ramping up the state's tourism campaign ahead of the summer travel season.
The state's annual effort to attract visitors is in full swing because it's around this time of the year that many people start planning their summer vacations.
The North Dakota Legendary tourism brand was established in 2002 to increase awareness of what the state has to offer.
Tourism Division Director Sara Otte Coleman says the top attraction is Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
Coleman says the division has been working with local communities, including those in the oil patch, to make sure they have visitor information readily available.
She estimates that for every dollar the state spent on the Legendary campaign in 2014, the state got nearly $100 back in visitor spending.
