FARGO (KFGO-AM) - A Fargo coffee shop has found a unique way to protest a North Dakota House vote that killed a bill prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation.
The Red Raven Espresso Parlor has a photo displayed of each lawmaker who voted against the bill--along with a notice that they've been banned from the premises.
Owner/employee Joe Curry says the satirical "ban" is meant to send a message. “So, while it is satire, I think it does make an immediate point” Curry said. “A lot of us feel that discrimination is an old way of thinking that should be put aside.”
The legislation would have added sexual orientation to the list of classes who are protected against discrimination in North Dakota.Curry says word about the Red Raven's ban has been quickly spreading on social media.
