DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) - U.S. Marshals believe a corrections officer at a jail in Devils Lake helped a federal prisoner escape.
A federal warrant has been issued for 26-year-old Rachel Chepulis, a now-former correctional officer at the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center. Authorities believe Chepulis is traveling with 35-year-old Wesley Brown III, who escaped from federal custody earlier this month while awaiting sentencing.
A criminal complaint charges Chepulis with three crimes, including instigating or assisting an escape and concealing person from arrest.
Brown pleaded guilty last May to charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and escape. He escaped from a jail in Rugby in June 2013 but was captured within hours.
Brown and Chepulis were last known to be driving in a white 2015 Toyota Rav4.
