FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- The propane shortage is far from over but in North Dakota, the situation is not as severe as many other states in the region.

Mike Rud, Executive Director of the North Dakota Propane Gas Dealers Association says prices have fluctuated but have dropped slightly, at least for now.     He says the state is still in crisis mode, but things are improving.    Rud says they're keeping a close eye on what the weather is going to do and what the prices are going to do so they can best serve the consumer.

Greg Wilz, Director of North Dakota's Division of Homeland Security, says the supplies are there but costs have doubled and tripled, and that's the big problem.

So far, Wilz says there have been no reports of propane outages but he says in many area's, dealers have been making "short fills" of propane tanks as a way to lessen the financial strain for customers.
