BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) North Dakota's House doesn't want residents to have a nine-day head start over nonresidents to trap muskrats in the state.
The House voted 66-24 Tuesday to kill the bill that also would have expanded the trapping season for residents by about two months.
Kenmare Republican Rep. Glen Froseth called muskrats a ``scourge.'' He says the rodents with a musk-like odor cause a lot of destruction to roads and culverts.
Forseth says restricting muskrat trapping ``is not a good idea.''
