GRAFTON, ND (KFGO-AM) - Formal charges have been filed against a Grafton, ND woman accused of locking four young children in a dog cage. Twenty-three-year-old Jordan Nelson is charged with four counts of felony abuse and neglect of a child and four counts of felonious restraint.
Court documents say the cage was located in the basement of a home that Nelson shares with the children's biological mother. The children told investigators that they were locked in the cage as punishment and the lights were turned off.
The complaint says Nelson punished one child by holding her head under water. Another child is mentally handicapped.
Investigators seized a dog cage from the basement of the home.
A preliminary hearing for Nelson is scheduled for April 13th.
