FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- The Fargo School Board is trying to figure out how to balance school populations as enrollment declines on the northside but has reached capacity on the southside.
About 75 parents showed up at public forum at Clara Barton School. Many had questions about the proposed changes and applauded the voice of concerned parent Eric Sondag. "Some of the concerns that I have are how it affects the social relationships of the kids, the social relationships of the community because we do have such a strong connection to our schools," Sondag said.
The Fargo Public School's Superintendent said he knows there are several issues surrounding the changes. "The biggest concern is moving from the existing attendance area to a new attendance area and I think throughout the process no matter when we do this type of process that's always the biggest concern," said Jeffrey Schatz.
The proposed changes will take place during the 2016-2017 school year.
Another public forum meeting will be held at 6 p.m. tonight at Jefferson Elementary School.
There will also be a forum next Wednesday at Centennial Elementary school at 6 p.m.
