MOORHEAD (KFGO-AM) - Monday night, The Moorhead City council takes up Fargo's request to use 100 to 200 parking spots at the city-owned Center Mall ramp and surface lot.
Moorhead leaders are cool to the idea, fearing the mall might lose too many spaces. Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney plans to be at the meeting. He suggests small group discussion about the concept to work out concerns.
The free shuttle bus would run every 15 minutes, Monday through Saturday, between the two dowtown's. The plan came up because of impending construction on Fargo's new city hall and floodwall that will mean the loss of 450 parking spaces in the Civic Center Mall lot. Fargo would cover the $135,000 cost of the 9 month trial run of the shuttle bus.
