WEST FARGO, ND (KFGO AM) -- The West Fargo Commission has passed an ordinance that increases the punishment for trespassing on school property.
It makes trespassing a Class-A or Class B misdemeanor and could bring jail time and fines.
The mayor says it was done at the request of the West Fargo School District after a Valley News Live reporter walked into several area elementary schools without checking in, to test the security of the schools.
The school district is working on an agreement with the station to avoid charges.
