FARGO (KFGO-AM) -A Facebook posting attributed to a Fargo police officer has led to an internal investigation.
Police Chief Dave Todd says a citizen filed a complaint with the department about Officer Zach Messmer's on-line comment that the man should "do us all a favor and hang urself". Chief Todd says the officer's posting was made during an on-line discussion about a police-involved shooting in Grand Forks.
He says the comment was inappropriate and the investigation he ordered will determine if the complaint can be sustained and if so, what kind of discipline is appropriate. He says that could include education department-wide about what was learned from the incident or mediation between Messmer and the man who filed the complaint. Todd says he should have the completed report within several days.
