GRAND FORKS (KFGO-AM) -- Grand Forks police say a man who led them and other law enforcement officers on a chase early Saturday morning was considered suicidal and he tried to run over officers with his pickup.
David Elliott, 41, was shot after he pulled into the parking lot of Altru Hospital. Police say Elliott first failed to stop after a traffic violation shortly after 10:30pm Sat. They say he took off at speeds close to 100 miles-an-hour.
Elliott was then spotted a couple of hours later and police say they believed he was suicidal. The state patrol and Grand Forks County Sheriff's deputies again tried to stop Elliott's pickup. At that point, police say Elliott refused officers' orders and attempted to strike them with his pickup.
Elliott has not been charged with a crime.
