GRAFTON, ND (KFGO-AM) - A Grafton, ND woman is accused of locking four young children in a dog cage in the basement of their home. A police affidavit says 23-year-old Jordan McKay Nelson placed the children in the cage and turned the lights off as punishment.
Court documents say the children were held under "terrorizing conditions." At least one of the children was forced to eat dog food, which made him vomit. The children are between the ages of five and nine.
During a police interview, one boy drew a picture of himself in the kennel with the words "help me." The complaint says Nelson is in a relationship with the children's biological mother.
Nelson is charged with four counts of felony abuse and neglect of a child and felonious restraint.
She was released on bond and ordered to stay away from the children.
