FARGO (KFGO) Fire early caused heavy damage to portions of the Regency Condo's, 3233 16th Avenue South in Fargo. The blaze was reported shortly after 4 Saturday morning in the two story, seven unit building.
Resident Dick Kloubec was awakened by pounding at his door. He says a neighbor was awakened by smoke and called 9-1-1 and alerted others. Kloubec, a former, longtime state legislator, lives in a second floor unit, across the hall from where it appears the fire started.
Assistant Fire Chief Gary Lorenz says while a cause has not been determined, the fire started between floors or in a wall on the north side of the building. Fire crews had to tear down ceilings and walls to get at the flames. Two units were gutted and smoke damage elsewhere in the building. No injuries were reported.
