Manitoba's 1st aboriginal judge speaking at UND luncheon

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO-AM)  The University of North Dakota will host this week a Canadian justice who was Manitoba's first aboriginal judge.

Justice Murray Sinclair will give a presentation on the Canadian residential school legacy at a luncheon on Wednesday in the Memorial Union Lecture Bowl on campus.

It's sponsored by the Canadian Law Students Society, the Native American Law Students Association and Phi Alpha Delta.

Sinclair was appointed associate chief judge of the Provincial Court of Manitoba in March 1988 and to the Court of Queen's Bench of Manitoba in January 2001. He was Manitoba's first aboriginal judge.
