FERGUS FALLS, MINN. (KFGO-AM) - A long day for many residents on the south side of Fergus Falls.
A major water main break left hundreds of homes and businesses without water for hours Sunday. By late afternoon, water service was restored after the break was located.
A boil order was lifted for most of the city. However, the order remains in effect for an area east of Oak Street., west of Cacade Avenue and south to Douglas Avenue. The boil order will continue until 1 p.m. Monday. Thats when the city will begin tests to determine when to lift the order.
Preliminary estimates indicate as much as one million gallons of water may have leaked. City Administrator Mark Sievert says city crews and firefighters spent hours walking the routes of the water system looking for the break.
