Dilworth woman accused of embezzling from employer

MOORHEAD (KFGO-AM) -- A Dilworth woman has been charged with theft by swindle for stealing from her employer, Clay County Abstract.

Christene Schmidtke admitted to taking between $300,000 and $400,000 over 13 years. She said she used the money to pay credit card bills.

Clay County Abstract puts the loss from its business trust account at about $423,000.

Moorhead Police and the state commerce department conducted the investigation.
