MAX, N.D. (KFGO-AM) Residents of Max are deciding the fate of a proposed $8 million school bond issue, for the second time in three months.
The bond issue being voted on Friday is the same as one that failed last November. Superintendent Craig Eraas says the state fire inspector has condemned the 55-year-old school's boiler system, meaning it can't be used after this school year.
The bond issue money would pay for a $3.3 million heating and electrical system upgrade, along with other building renovations and classroom additions. Property taxes for the owner of a $100,000 home would go up about $330 per year.
