BROOKINGS, S.D. – And now there is a tie atop the Summit League men's basketball standings.
South Dakota State got 20 points from George Marshall and heavily outrebounded North Dakota State to take a 68-58 victory Saturday at Frost Arena.
NDSU and SDSU are now tied in first place in The Summit League at 10-3. The Jackrabbits improved to 19-8 overall, while the Bison fell to 18-8.
Bison senior Lawrence Alexander led all players with 24 points. He made five 3-pointers, tying the school's single-season record for triples with 85. Ross Manson made 85 3-pointers in the 1993-94 season.
The Jackrabbits outrebounded the Bison 41-27 and had 14 offensive rebounds.
The Bison trailed 29-24 at halftime but fought back to hold a 50-47 lead on a three-pointer by A.J. Jacobson with 7:53 remaining. NDSU trailed 54-53 with 4:55 left in the game when the Jackrabbits went on an 8-1 run over the next 2:30. The Bison return home to host IUPUI and Fort Wayne next week on Thursday, Feb. 19, and Saturday, Feb. 21.
