FARGO, N.D. (KFGO-AM)  A contingent of Fargo public officials is meeting with lawmakers in Bismarck about flood control money for North Dakota's largest city.

A bill introduced at the start of the session had called for Fargo to receive $120 million that could be used on building dikes and levees within the city limits. But Fargo's acting mayor says that funding has been put on hold because of the revised budget projection due to slumping oil revenues.

Mayor Tim Mahoney says there's a lot of ``running around out there'' because lawmakers aren't sure how much money they can put into the bill to help Fargo with its chronic flooding problem.

Mahoney says he believes it's still possible to break ground in 2016 on a nearly $2 billion Red River Valley diversion project.
