FARGO (KFGO-AM) - The city of Fargo will not prosecute a local TV news reporter for entering a school without checking in as required by law.

Valley News Live reporter Mellaney Moore used a hidden camera as part of a story broadcast in December about school security.

Assistant Fargo City Attorney Jason Loos says Moore was under the direction of a supervisor--which was a factor in his decision. “We’ve reviewed the case, and our understanding is the school district worked out a resolution with the news station, and isn’t inclined to prosecute.” Loos said. “We typically respect the wishes of victims in these types of cases.”

Moore also made undercover visits to schools in Moorhead and West Fargo. Sources say Moore is not expected to be charged in Moorhead.  West Fargo Public School officials say an agreement with Valley News Live is in the works that would also decline prosecution.

Valley News Live attorney Lisa Borgen and news director Ike Walker have no comment.
