FARGO (KFGO) Fargo City Commissioners have approved a new riverfront master plan. It details development along the Red River from Mickelson Field to Dike East.
Tied in with a new city hall, the plan has four concepts that offer different idea's. Most involve a new convention center, hotels, mixed use businesses, residential housing, parking ramps, bike trails connecting to parks along the river, and skyways from the riverfront to Broadway.
Architect Richard Moorhead says permanent flood protection underway downtown that includes land acquistion, the city has a "one moment in time opportunity" to get this done.
Commissioner Mike Williams, a leading proponent of riverfront development, says the plan shows vision. He calls it "cool."
