A step foward Monday in resolving staff shortages in the ranks of the Fargo Police Department.
Six new officers were sworn in during ceremonies Monday at City Hall.
Police Chief Dave Todd says the recruits will go through 5 months of training before they're out on the streets. Another 7 officers will be hired later this spring.
A significant staff shortage was one of the items cited as needing quick attention during the recent investigation into the department's operations.
Mayor Tim Mahoney says there's a noticible improvement in the police department's morale since Todd came on board as interim chief in November.
The new officers are: Adam Schock, Taylor Savageau, Adam Gossen, Aldin Golos, Jordan Michaels, and Brett Provo.
