DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) The Lake Region Search and Rescue Team has recently expanded its capabilities through the purchase of new technology and additional training of its members.
The team has acquired new land and marine GPS hardware and sent three members to Texas to become certified rescue divers.
The team has been serving the Lake Region in northeastern North Dakota since 1981.
Rescue diver Randy Anfinson says the new GPS technology allows the team to save time during operations because it can help guide rescuers through roads and on boats.
The rescue diving training in Texas lasted 15 days and addressed boat-based operations and public safety diver survival.
Matthew Nelson says his confidence as a rescue diver has ``increased exponentially'' thanks to the out-of-state training.
