FARGO (KFGO-AM) - How about a fixed rail transit system downtown. Other cities are doing it. Why not Fargo?
That idea was floated during the annual meeting of the Downtown Community Partnership Friday. Mike Zimney, a planner with Ulteig Engineering says street cars can resolve traffic and parking problems and there's a good return on investment because it drives more development. He says it's more than a pipe dream.
City Commissioner Melissa Sobolik calls the idea "thought provoking" and deserves a closer look.
DCP President Mike Hahn says his group is looking a new master plan for more downtown development and now's the time to discuss idea's like this.
