FARGO -(KFGO-AM) -- Xcel Energy and Great Plains Natural Gas Company are asking customers to turn down the heat and conserve natural gas.
Xcel's Mark Nisbet in Fargo says a pipeline rupture in Canada is affecting supplies to the Viking Gas Transmission pipeline. People are urged to lower their thermostats and avoid using natural gas appliances.
The pipeline rupture and explosion took place just south of Winnipeg.
Great Plains Natural Gas supplies Crookston, Vergas, Pelican Rapids, Fergus Falls, Breckenridge and Wahpeton.
Xcel Energy supplies natural gas to Fargo, Grand Forks, East Grand Forks, Moorhead and Brainerd. Both residental and business customers are asked to conserve natural gas.
