FARGO (KFGO-AM) There are now 3 candidates running for a seat on the Fargo City Commission.

Former Cass County Commissioner Scott Wagner is the latest to announce. Wagner, who was a member of the F-M Diversion Authority, says securing that permanent flood protection is a "critical" priority for him.  The Fargo businessman says the diversion is needed to protect property but for Fargo's growth. He says without it, FEMA could expand the floodplain again, requiring another 20,000 properties to carry costly flood insurance. Wagner says economic development, workforce training and retention are also priorities for him.

Others seeking the City Commission seat in April's special election are John Strand, co-owner of the High Plains Reader and Anthony Gehrig, a pilot with the North Dakota Air National Guard. All three made unsucessful bids for commission seats in last June's regular city election.
