BISMARCK (AP) - Former North Dakota state lawmaker Donald Clark has died.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the former Fargo legislator died Wednesday. Dalrymple called Clark "a true statesman.''

Clark served in the state House from 2004 to 2012. The Republican began serving when he was appointed to succeed his son, Byron Clark, who resigned to move out of state.

Dalrymple said Clark drew on his extensive business experience and his love of the outdoors "to help grow our economy and move Fargo and North Dakota forward.''
