People who want to serve on North Dakota's Board of Higher Education can apply for a vacancy created by the departure of Chairwoman Kirsten Diederich.
The application deadline is 5 p.m. on Jan. 30. The committee will meet Feb. 4 to forward three nominations to the governor. The governor's appointment must be confirmed by the state Senate.
Diederich announced earlier this month that she was stepping down ahead of what was expected to be a contentious confirmation hearing for a second term.
The Board of Higher Education oversees the state's 11 public colleges and universities. It has eight voting members.
