TOWER CITY, N.D. (AP) -- Voters in the Maple Valley School District appear to have narrowly defeated a $10 million bond issue.
The money would have been used to build a new high school in Tower City and renovate the existing one into an elementary school. Schools in Oriska and Buffalo would have been closed.
The measure required 60 percent approval, but preliminary results of Tuesday's election show that only 58 percent of the 572 voters favored the plan.
