BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Wildlife officials in North Dakota are conducting a winter creel survey in the south-central part of the state in an attempt to learn who is fishing and what people are catching.
Scott Gangl with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department says employees will be hitting various small district lakes, primarily in Logan and McIntosh counties and northern Kidder County. The survey is expected to last several weeks.
Gangl says the department wants to find out the size, catch rates, species and the quality of the fishing experience.
Anglers who agree to be interviewed will be asked a number of questions and department employees will then measure harvested fish. Anglers will also be given a card to fill out and drop off when they finish fishing for the day.
