BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) Basin Electric Power Cooperative says it's generating more electricity to help meet demand in North Dakota's oil patch with the addition of several natural gas-based peaking stations.
Its Lonesome Creek Station west of Watford City started operation of Units 2 and 3 on January 1st, just over a year after Unit 1 started operating. Together they generate 135 MW.
Three units at its Pioneer Generation Station northwest of Williston went online between September 2013 and last March that generate 45 MW of electricity.
Basin says additional capacity is in the works.
