HILLSBORO, N.D. (KFGO-AM) -- A judge has sentenced a Grandin man to six months in jail for the traffic death of a West Fargo man last June.
Justin Jalbert, 27, admitted that he was speeding and texting on his phone when he hit 50 year-old David Hawkinson who was riding his bike on hwy. 81 north of Grandin. He pleaded guilty to negligent homicide under an agreement with the Traill County State's Attorney.
Jalbert will also be required to take part in the 24/7 alcohol program, complete 100 hours of community service and speak publicly about the dangers of texting and driving.
