FARGO (KFGO AM) The F-M Diversion Authority has called a special meeting Tuesday to approve a significant increase in the cost of a contract for an environmental impact study for the proposed Red River Diversion to be done by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Last month, the Diversion Authority directed staff to negotiate a contract with the DNR for $750,000. Local leaders just learned the cost will be closer to $1.2 million. Authority chairman Darrell Vanyo is surprised but he says the unexpected $400,000 increase won't derail the project.
The EIS is required by law and could take a year to complete.
