FARGO (KFGO-AM) The strongest storm system so far this winter season will move in the northern Red River Valley by late Friday afternoon.
The Fargo Moorhead area and points south will luck out, missing the brunt of the storm. The Fargo area could see a couple of inches of snow, but further north, a different story.
A winter storm warning has been issued from 3 p.m. Friday afternoon to 6 p.m.Saturday for northeastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. The area's in the warning are along and north of the Highway 2 cooridor. A winter weather advisory is posted for counties along the south side of that line.
National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Kellenbenz says 4 to 6 inches is expected in the Grand Forks area but a band of heavier snow, as much as 10 inches, may fall north of Grand Forks, from Langdon through Grafton into Marshall County in northwest Minnesota. Winds will increase late Friday with near blizzard conditions in the northern valley by Saturday morning. The combination, along with bitterly cold wind chills will create dangerous travel conditions.
Kellenbenz says the F-M area could also see some blustery conditions Saturday as winds increase.
