MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ A Minnesota woman whose husband was the first American to die from Ebola hopes to see the deadly virus eradicated in 2015.

In July, Decontee Kofa's husband, Patrick Sawyer, died of Ebola in Nigeria after traveling from his native Liberia, which has been hit hard by the disease.

Kofa says she would like to see organizations, governments and groups continue efforts to treat Ebola patients in West Africa.

She also would like to see mental health services and other aid for families and children of Ebola victims.

After her husband's death, Kofa founded the Kofa Foundation to help survivors and communities affected by infectious diseases.

The World Health Organization now estimates the Ebola outbreak has killed 7,905 people, mostly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
