WARROAD, Minn. (AP) - Two people are dead after their car collided with a freight train near Warroad in northern Minnesota.
The State Patrol says the crash happened about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at a railroad crossing on Highway 11 south of Warroad.
The patrol says a Ford Focus slowed at a stop sign but did not stop before going across the tracks. The eastbound train struck the car on the driver's side and pushed the car into the ditch.
Killed were the car's driver, 35-year-old Aaron Cook of Warroad, and passenger, 33-year-old Sheryl Reed of Macon, Georgia.
The train driver was not hurt. The patrol says the road was dry at the time.
